Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii. Most people who get the disease don’t have any symptoms and don’t need treatment. For people with weak immune systems or babies who get toxoplasmosis from their mothers, it can cause serious health problems.

There is no cure for toxoplasmosis, but there are ways to prevent exposure to the disease. If you have toxoplasmosis, medication can help control the symptoms.

If you have a weak immune system, are pregnant, or want to become pregnant, talk to your doctor about developing a plan for prevention and/or treatment of toxoplasmosis.

If you have any questions about your vision, speak with your ophthalmologist. He or she is committed to protecting your sight.
